2005-2014 S197 Mustang Parts & Accessories
With the new design elements and retro-styling of the 5th generation Mustang, enthusiasts began to see real increases in power and performance. The new model GT featured an all-aluminum, 4.6L, 3-valve SOHC Modular V8 engine with variable camshaft timing and a more rugged Tremec TR-3650 transmission. It boasted an impressive 300 horsepower that proved itself by running a quarter-mile in 13.8 seconds, with acceleration from zero to 60 MPH in 5.3 seconds. The 4.0L SOHC V6 also was a milestone with a whopping 210 horsepower, and great fuel economy to boot. With the re-introduction of the Shelby GT500 in 2007, we now have ourselves a new platform for racing.
One thing that we are all well aware of is that power does not mean much without quality handling and the ability to bring that power to a stop with better braking. That’s why this Mustang GT featured a stiffer, better handling version of the standard suspension,as well as larger 12.4-inch front brakes, standard four-channel ABS with traction control, and a two-piece drive shaft. The styling of this car is what has paved the road of desire for many Mustang enthusiasts and purists that wanted all the modern comforts and performance in a retro looking machine.
